Yes, Woodward is opening a park in Beijing. It plans on opening up with a bang on May 15th. There will be a Grand Opening celebration including Tony Hawk, Ryan Sheckler and many other famous athletes who will be taking advantage of the parks 72,000 square feet of indoor facility and outdoor facility which includes ramps and bowls. The VIP invited-guest grand opening will include a vert demo, best trick contest and a traditional ribbon-cutting ceremony. The following day, May 16, the camp will be open to the general public. U.S. Open of Surfing with NIKE?

The owner of the U.S. Open of surfing has signed a multiple year agreement with Nike inc. for sponsorship rights over the event on Huntington Beach, CA. The event is the world’s largest professional surfing competition drew 500,000 onlookers last year. This year its schedualed for July 31 through Aug. 8, and is reportedly able to bring $25 million to Huntington Beach. Surfing is not the only sport that takes place at the event, there is also skateboarding and BMX along with others. Bitches on Boards is an action sports brand promoting board sports, green movements, charity work, and community fundraising activities. Owned by four female action sports athletes, the company is eager to give back to the community which fostered their individual achievements. Recently BOB has donated a generous amount to Families Forward after they met with the staff and toured the facility. The Summer Dew Tour dates and events are now listed. it will take place over 5 months starting in June and in 5 U.S. cities. The Cities are: Boston on June 25-26, Chicago on July 23-24, Portland on August 12-15, Salt Lake City on September 16-19, and Las Vegas on October 14-17. The Tour features skateboarding park and vert, andd BMX park, vert and dirt competitions. More than 150 of the top action sports athletes in the world compete in the Dew Tour. Film Festival

The Newport Beach Film Festival annouced that they will be doing a Action Sports film series that will be an international showcase of 25 films by visionaries, cinematographers, athletes, etc.. It will start on april 22nd and continue through april 29th in Orange County, California. If you would like to hear more on the film festival check out the link posted below. As always the Dew Tour will take place this summer. Yes I know its a little early to get amped up already with the winter Dew Tour just ending and all. The dates were just released as to when the compition will be held and the first location has also came out. As always I will give them to you. The first stop will be in Chicago on Friday and Saturday June 26th and 27th. This is where the BMX portion of the compition will be taking place. Including the street, park, dirt, and vert sections of the compition. The Dew Tour cannot be completed without a band playing of course and on Friday night Lupe Fiasco will be playing at 9:30. More information will be coming up soon so be sure to keep checking back.

Who the Heck is Bubba and What’s in His World?

Once again i will reference Fuel TV and it will not be the last because they are the one TV station that deals only with action sports. They plan to release a brand new reality series premiering March 28th, called “BUBBA’S WORLD”. It is a ten show docu-series about the life of James “BUBBA” Stewart, America’s highest paid motocross racer. In 2008 Stewart had the perfect season with 24 wins in 24 races. This allowed him to get his payroll of over $10 million a year!! “I thought racing in the motocross world was tough,” says “Bubba’s World” Star James Stewart. “But I wasn’t ready to have the cameras following me around 24/7. Uprising Extreme Sport; What Good Can Come From Skateboarding on Water?

Most of the die hard extreme sport athletes and follows may have heard about this sport already but most probably have not. It takes a wakeboard and a skateboard and puts all in one with the thrills and spills of both. The name pretty much does the same thing, not very creative if you ask me but, Wakeskating. Its pretty much taking the bindings (for you non-riders the things that strap your feet on) off of a wakeboard and putting the top of a skateboard on it. Put on some shoes and then get pulled by a boat just as if you were wakeboarding. Add some rails and some gaps, go fast and learn tricks and now you’ve got yourself a new extreme sport to try. Of course with an extreme sport you get sponsors. With sponsors come videos. Check out this video of the Obscura wakeskate team.

Winter Olympic Conclusion

The winter Olympics this year have lived up to everything they needed to be. From drama to death to records being broken, through all the ups and downs and everything in between, it was all there. For the U.S. The Winter Olympics set the new standards with 37 medals and its closest competitor, Germany, Trailing behind with 30. Apollo Anton Ohno is now the most decorated winter olympian with 8 medals and Bode Miller with his comeback getting Gold, Silver, and Bronze this time around. U.S. also won gold in the 4 man bobsled this year, which is a first in 62 years. But on the downside for some of the other countries this olympics was not so great. The Georgian Olympic Team lost one of their competitors in a freak luge accident and one of Canada’s figure skaters lost her mother of the past week. But all in all besides the weather which is what this olympic games may be remembered for the Olypics set a new standard.
